Getting IUD today?

Question:
How should I prepare(pain wise, relaxing, and driving home?

Answers:
Take an Ibuprofen a half hour before insertion, to help with any pain that would be involved with dilating your cervix. As for relaxing, remember to breathe deeply, and try not to pay too much attention to what the doctor is doing, just like someone who is afraid of needles would do with shots. You should be able to drive home without issue, so just realize that you may be in a bit of pain afterwards.
Getting an IUD can be a little painful, but should be no worse than a bad period. Your doctor will probably prescribe something for cramps, but if she doesn't, take some Advil or Tylenol (or you can take both together, 2 of each) just before you leave your house for your appointment. That will give the medication some time to kick in, and hopefully will make the insertion less uncomfortable. You may have some bleeding after (again, no worse than a period), so take along some pads - not tampons this time. You should be okay to drive home, but if you're worried, maybe a girl friend or someone else could come along and drive if necessary. Don't stress about it too much, it's not a fun procedure but shouldn't be really awful.
Tke some ibuprofen and some vicodin if you have it laying around. It was the most dull throbbig pain I'd ever had! But it's nice. I've been period free for 6 months now! Woot!
i hear it doesn't hurt and there isn't much pain if you do have any
