What is the best way to get rid of cramps?
Question:
Answers:
The simplest, most cost effective ways are:
1.) Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Tylenol, etc etc (I have found Aleve to be the best, but different otc pain meds work different for each individual).
2.) Hot water bottle/pad- put on your tummy or your lower back, wherever it's cramping.
3.) Bath/shower- i know it feels gross to take a bath when your bleeding, but a warm bubble bath or sitting in the tub and letting the shower run on your belly/back sometimes helps. It will also calm your muscles, since they are contracting and the pain is probably making you stressed; causing more contracting.
4.) Icy Hot patches- SOMETIMES the muscle soreness patches can help, sometimes they dont. I dont find it effective, but a few friends do.
5.) The doctor. If your cramps are out of control (I would vomit whenever i got my period they were so bad), as in, effecting your daily activities, I would visit the doctor. Birth control pills can sometimes aid in getting rid of cramps, but in worst case scenarios the doctor will give you a prescription painkiller. This is not likely to happen, since alot of prescription painkillers (they used to prescribe Vicodin) is highly addictive, and the pain usually does not last long enough for it to be considered a condition that needs a prescription that strong.
Good luck, and hang in there. Cramps suck, but just like periods, they will go away after a few days. :)
Drink plenty of fluids. It will keep you from bloating in the first place.(Bloating leads to cramps) But you need to start a day or two before you period. Try not to drink too much caffine. It makes it worse.
exercise!! if they are still bad...midol GEL CAPS
just lay around and use a heating pad to cuddle up with...that helps me more than anything else. i hate cramps! also if you have them really bad and your not on birth control yet, ask your doctor to prescribe you a pill that can help ease the pain of cramps.
