Tampons...and swimming?

Question:
I'm 19 and I have yet to try out Tampons, partially because I'm scared of them... err more scared of the consequences of me forgetting to change it. Anyways, my question is I really want to go swimming tomorrow but unfortunately I have my period, I was wondering if I wore a tampon would that allow me to go swimming?

Answers:
Absolutely. It will be just fine if you have no problem inserting one. Oh you may want to tuck the string inside too just so it isn't hanging out visible and so that it won't wick.

You don't need a high absorbancy tampon when you are swimming. You won't bleed when you are in the water anyway. But you do want to change it as soon as you are out of the water and dressing.

Have fun :)
Yes you can wear a tampon and go swimming. You will never even know it. Just be sure to change it when you stop swimming. Try the OB tampons, they are the best if you are going to use one.
19?! yes, a tampon is the only way you can go swimming on your period. It's kinda good that you're scared of the consequences of not changing them, that will make you be sure not to forget, BUT, you shouldn't let it stop you from wearing them. tampons are like one of the best things ever invented! you have to at least try them... they are sooo much better than pads.

btw, o.b. tampons don't have applicators, and require you to push them in with your finger, just so you know.
of course it acts like a plug or sponge and so you can go swimming (like the cork on a wine bottle ... nothing gets outt ill ya pull it!)...so just change it maybe 4 hours or 3 hours instead of the desired 6 hours ( i reccomend tampax pearls) only because it will become more saturated from being submerged in complete water and if too saturated can feel a bit uncomfortable to remove.
of course. i always use tampons. i doubt you will forget to change it. if it is in too long it might become uncomfortable so you are bound to notice it. but thats me.
Swim away. Girl, wear that tampon and you'll never look back. I was terrified the first time I tried to use a tampon, but I am an exclusive tampon user now. They're soooo much more comfortable than those nasty pads. And it's nearly impossible to forget that you have one in. Everytime you pee, there's that string!
I had trouble getting the tampon in on my first try. Give yourself some extra time getting ready tomorrow or better yet, try now. And just relax!
Yes you can wear tampons when swimming. You really need to try tampons ,you will wonder why you have put up with pads for so long.
Ok let me give you some advice.
I was the same way as you.
finally today i put in my first tampon.
Its very easy after you get the hang of it.
Listen you dont forget its there cause you feel it.
and trust me you will know when its there.
anyways go swimming tomorrow and where one.
its perfectly fine..

oh and btw
unless your a heavy bleeder get heaver ones more exorbing.
because im heavy bleeder and mine only last for about an hour than it went through and i got it all over my legs. but listen dont worry. Just know how heavy or light you bleed.

GooD Luck!
Use a tampon for tomorrow. Once you figure it out, it is VERY straight forward.

Just make sure that you cannot feel it when it is inside. If it hurts that means it was NOT placed properly. Try to push it deeper in, and if it doesn't help, well, then remove it and try again.

The tampon will not only absorb your blood, but also the water of the swimming pool/lake/sea/whatever.

So when you come out of the water RUN and get a new tampon.

I HATE tampons with a passion.

That's why I no longer use them because I use a menstrual cup.

Menstrual cups like Keeper, Moon Cup, Lunette, Mooncup and Diva (google them, you'll be fascinated to know there IS a better way to deal with menses) are very economical, very hygenic (there has never been a case of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) associated with them, they have a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of them it is WONDERFUL!.

If you do get one, I recommend you to start with any brand but Diva, as it seems to be hardest to get the hang on. All the other cups have EXTREMELY high user satisfaction rates.

Go ahead check it out, you won't regret.
yes tampons are much more comfortable and instead of just wearing them swimming wear them all the time (except to sleep) and you should be old enough that your vagina is fully developed so it shouldn't hurt
yes it would. i do it all the time. just remember to tuck the string in your swim suit. have a good swim!!
