Honestly condoms are your best option. When you are on birth control alone, you aren't protected from any STD's. Which today you need to be. Condoms still do not protect from some STD's. (herpes and HPV are not always prevented with condoms. It can be around the base of him or you and the there is not condom there to do anything to protect you.) That's is your better option quite honestly.
as you are underaged,i don't think its easy for you to get the patch from your physician..if haslle-free option is of course using condom which you can easily get in the market..but frankly, its better not to have sex at your age.u might want to think of the unsafe part which you might regret..
The birth control patch has recently recieved a lot of media attention because it has been found that on the patch there is a much higher risk of blood clots than on the pill.
If you really feel like you are ready to have sex, then it is important that you be safe. The pill is a good option, but you need to consult a doctor before taking any sort of contraceptive. Also, with any type of hormone-based contraceptive (pill, patch, ring) there is still a risk of pregnancy. It's safest to use BOTH the pill and a condom. Since the pill does not protect against STDs, a condom is always the safest way to go.
Go to www.plannedparenthood.org. Planned Parenthood is a wonderful organization with a lot of really good literature about safe sex on their website.
The birth control patch works well for women who are under 180 pounds. However, it does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, so you should use a condom every time you have sexual intercourse, even if you use the patch.
