What might a positive mammogram mean, oval lump found in right breast?

Question:

Answers:
That could be all kinds of things..most benign, some cancerous. It could be a fibroadenoma, carcinoma, cyst or just normal breast tissue which looks like a mass. A cancer of the breast is usually spiculated, and not a smooth oval. But, that patient will need further work up.if it is not very suspicious for cancer, a 6 month follow up mammogram of that breast only. If it is more worriesome an ultrasound, or even a biopsy would be indicated.
It means they found something that concerns them. They will do further testing on the lump to determine if it is benign or cancerous, and go from there in terms of treatment.
