Stress causing bleeding or pills?

Question:
I have been over my period for a week and a half now. Sunday morning I woke up and noticed some blood that continued throughout the day. Yesterday was fine, no blood. Then this morning I had light blood followed by bright blood now it's going away again. I am on birth control so I am wondering if that could be causing it but I am also extremely stressed out now, worrying about a lot of stuff that causes me to have bad headaches and sleepless nights. Could it be from stress then? Any advice/experience will be appreciated. Thanks

Answers:
Stress can cause your body to do all kinds of wacked out stuff, so it could be the culprit. The birth control is more likely to be the problem though. If you recently started taking it your body could just be adjusting to the hormones. I had some bleeding when I first started. Also, if you missed a pill or took one late it could cause breakthrough bleeding, especially if you are on a low dose of birth control. I hope your problem clears up, I know it is a terrible pain in the butt! Good luck girl!
There is no way of knowing which is the culprit, stress or the pill. Even your doctor cannot be sure of that.
Try to relax and take sometime to yourself to de-stress (I know easier said then done), because if you are experiencing other health effects from stress it could be the main caused aided by your pills.
Try some light stretching, deep breathing, fresh air, brisk walks or other ways to alleviate the stress some.
