Period problems please help?

I had the same problem until September last year. I went to a kinesiologist who told me my hormones were so out of whack it wasn't funny. She did a couple of treatments to get my hormonal system back on track, and I've been as regular as clockwork ever since.
So, you might want to have your hormones looked at (taking the pill regulates hormones, which will be why your doctor suggested it), plus stress/anxiety levels, diet, weight, stuff like that. There are a lot of things that can affect menstruation, and the vast majority are not life-threatening, so don't worry yourself :)
If you get no joy from your doctor, find yourself a good natural therapist who'll be more than happy to help you. Good luck.
Have you recently drastically lost or gained weight?
Two years ago I lost a bunch of weight way to soon, which caused my period to stop. My period had not come for 6 months before I decided to go see a doctor. Unfortunately the only choice I had was to take the pill. I only took it for a week though. Everything's back to normal now. If you're worried about having to permantly stick to the pill, I doubt that's the case.
i take a herb called "dong quai" and my periods are as normal as normal!
There is likely to be nothing significant wrong with you. For reassurance perhaps your GP would check your gonadotrophins, sex hormones, but in fact many women have irregular periods, so what!
You need to remember what periods are for, they are to shed the lining of the uterus once a month, if you fail to get pregnant, ready for another try. If you want to get pregnant, this is an issue and drugs like clomid will stimulate ovulation. If you don't want to get pregnant, why worry if you miss a period, it will do you no harm at all!
