What is the best birth control pill for smokers and preventing weight changes?

Question:
I am 27 and have an athletic type body.

Answers:
There is no pill better than others for smokers. Smoking while on the pill raises your chance of getting blood clots that can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and pulmonary embolisims, all which could be deadly.
Only 25% of women gain weight on teh pill, 75% stay teh same or lose weight.

Tobacco reduces your ability to metabolise the hormones in the pill, (it interferes with the cyp450 enzyme) so you'll need a higher dose to compensate.

And you need to know that all the risks of smoking, and the risks of taking the pill, are significantly increased by combining the two. Your chance of having a potentially fatal blood clot in any year go up to 8 in a thousand. 10 times as likely as a non-smoker on the pill.

Most doctors will not prescribe the pill to you if you are over 35 and smoke, as your chance of a potentially fatal blood clot goes up to 1 in 12 each year.
