Getting an IUD?
Question:
Answers:
based on what i learned in school, a IUD can cause discomfort when it is put in, but if you have birthed (i am assuming that you have based on your screen name) that it is a lot easier and is less uncomfortable. You can also ask for an anesthetic and see if they will give you it.
It did hurt but only for a few seconds. If you've ever been in labor, it hurts as much about as a labor pain but doesn't last nearly as long. It is worth it though! My Dr. told me to take Motrin before she inserted it.
For me it was some twinges - but not unbearable.
The Dr inserts the tube thing that they put the IUD through - and mine out it against the cervix and then had me 'cough'. That sort of distracted me and tightened the muscles so I pushed in easier. After that it was only a few seconds while the IUD was inserted and the tube thing was out.
Don't worry or anticipate 'pain' because that'll cause you to have pain almost assuredly. Just relax and don't worry about it. Honestly - it's not that bad.
The level of pain you will feel is going to depend on you, not on what your friend experienced. Each of us who have had it inserted have had different experiences, for some it hurt for others it didn't. Either way it will all be done and over with in just a few moments. Take a few pain killers before you go and good luck.
