Im going on vacation on October 11, 2007, it looks like ill be on my period, I've never been on birth control.

See if you can get your doctor to give you the birth control shot. There is a kind of birth control, I wish I could remember what it was called, but you get a shot every couple of months and you only get your period a couple times a year. My cousin and my best friend both had it because they got severe cramps to the point that it disabled them from doing any activities. It has bad side effects just like any other birth control so talk to your doctor to determine what will work best for this situation. It might be best just to get your period and wear a tampon.
I think that most birth controls are started the Sunday after your period. I would get an appt with your dr ASAP (before you next period). But Most definitely you will be able to skip it by then. You sound like me, whenever theres a vacation I skip it. Sometimes there is hell to pay the next go around for the period but it is worth the fun on vacation.
Yes, you can skip your period when you go on bc. I would not recommend doing it often but once in a while is ok. What you would do is start taking birth control now...if you go on the pill form, they give you a weeks worth of sugar pills (so not to break the habit of taking them). If you want to skip a period, skip the sugar pills and start taking the next pack right away.
It's hard to say if it would work or not. I wouldn't advise it though, not to be a party pooper. Birth control is serious so don't just take it to skip a period. If you're interested in it for other reasons then it might be safe. I know when I started the pill it took a couple months to regulate me. And if I do skip a period, which I've done two or three times int he 4 years I've been on it, I have spotting anyway. It's usually more annoying then just having my period.
