Personally, I like Motrin and Tylenol but Midol is good too. Pills aren't for everyone though...my best friend can't get herself to swallow them. Try the old remedy of a heating pad, or ginger ale and crackers. Stay away from caffeine and chocolate because in some women, it may trigger more cramping that your body would normally be able to take if it were not on its cycle.
I take Midol if not Tylenol.
ou can take tylenol, ibueprofin, midol, motrin, pamprin...
there's so much you can take, and they'll only have long lasting affects if you take them exsesively, like take it too often...
and you tend to take more at a time if you use them a lot...
You should be fine using something as long as you're not popping pills every 4 hours for a week straight
I have had severe cramps for years (I'm in my 40's). I have tried Naproxen, Anaprox, the pill. Try WebMD to look up self-treatment.
Also have you been to your gynecologist? She/He will be the best starting point to determine a course of action.
I have also read that Evening Primrose oil helps with cramps.
In any case, by being pro-active in your healthcare, you will be on your way to having less cramps.
Midol is really great. It helps relieve cramps big time. Oh, or ibuprofen. That is a pain reliever and fever reducer and always works for me. Plus, if you're worried about long-lasting damage, ibuprofen is not made for women on their periods and is just a normal every-day pain medication, so there aren't very many permanent risks unless you take it excessively.
midol and tylenol are effective... to prevent those painful symptoms, you should have enough rest and sleep. good nutrition and exercise must be done for you to prevent cramping or any premenstrual syndrome.
If you take a general anti imflammatory like ibuprofen, it will really help with the pain and as long as you are not allergic to it there are no harmful side effects at all.
(It is highly unlikely that you would be allergic and if you were you would probably already know by now).
The bad reactions you have heard about are probably from women who have taken muscle relaxants which is a different drug from ibuprofen.
