What do teens do when they might have Anorexia?

My 14 year old daughter is showing 7 out of 10 symptoms of anorexia. I want to know what she may doing and how she is doing it and maybe reasons why.I think she has been trying it for maybe 2 weeks. I have told a doctor and he said to observe her. I'm worried things are going to get worse if she continues. Is it possible to stop it at home?

Answers:
DO NOT!! Try and ground her. No one can force her to eat.

Make her feel good about herself, and buy her new clothes IN HER ORIGINIAL size, and ask why she's getting smaller clothes, if she is.

JUST DO NOT MAKE HER FEEL LIKE A BAD PERSON!

That's a REALLY bad case of insecurity, and it could make her feel way worse if you approach her the wrong way.
No, if your daughter is anorexic she's going to need professional help to help her figure out what reasons are causing her to do this.

One reason why she could be doing it is because of comments her friends have made about her weight, a problem with a boyfriend if she has one.

Sometimes how a girl does it is by having small amounts on a plate such as like lettuce (as an example).

well, first, take it calmly. chances are if shes not eating, she isn't in the best of moods. try sitting down with her and talking with her about the risks of being anorexic. show her mortality rates of anorexia and other disorders like that. cook her favorite foods all the time! bring her shopping with you at the grocery store. best of luck to you and you daughter. oh, also show her the benefits of eating healthy and exercising!
My friend has it, You don't no what to do or what to say its just so damn DIFFICULT! I think just a talk would be good ask her like this. " How are you feeling about yourself at the moment" "Try and make me understand" "Is anyone making you feel this way" "Can I help" "You don't have to be alone" These are all questions that don't make her feel bad but it makes her think about her feeling. Please don't make a big deal with food. If she thinks shes fat then in her head she will be thinking of calories and fat and shes putting on weight. A good idea is to eat healthy. Have lots of lovely fruits and vegetables and fish. Do keep a eye on her and her habits. And keep in contact with your doctor. I no you feel helpless and its a very difficult thing to deal with.

Read Under Pressure by Jacqueline Wilson its a good book that shows it from the Ellie's point of view and will help you understand and when it comes to meal times make a good conversation, smile tell funny memories and don't make it doom and gloom, and tell her to take her time. P.P.S. Have a small amount of food on her plate, and cook her bright, tasty foods because they will have more goodness. And read up about it.
