How come birth control pills aren't available over the counter?

Question:
I was just curious...

Answers:
Birth control pills are not available over the counter because people with certain medical conditions shoud not take them, or should be under doctors care when taking them. Having high blood pressure, history of heart disease (you or your immediate family), smoking, weight, and taking other medications all factor into possible side effects that one may experience while taking birth control. Stroke, heart attack and pulmonary embolisms are the MAJOR (but not too common) risk factors to taking borth control with the above mentioned problems.
You should have a full examination and discussion with your doctor before taking birth control to find out what kind, if any, is right for you and your body. Plus a person taking it should be well aware of the risk factors that go along with it.
There are many reasons. Most importantly every woman's body is different and reacts differently to the pills. There are also many different pills and dosages available. Thus a doctor should be involved with the woman to make the best choice available, and then follow-up to see everything is working or make changes as required.
All these chemicals and hormones shud be taken only when prescribed by a doc so that the side effects, if any, r minimised.
You have to go to the gyn so they could make sure that they are right for you. Some girls get sick easily with these pills. It's precaution. Take care, good question
