Question:
Okay, I strted discharge last year in fourth grade! I still have it! I am in a 30A. In October I am turning 12! I weigh 90 lbs. I am 5'3. When will my period come? What if it happens in school and I'm not prepared, what do I do then? I'll be so embarressed! How do I tell my mom! When I get it or when she'll notice I'm using the pads! Help! How long will it last? Will I have signs? What if it happens when I am in a waterpark or something?

Answers:
Well, normally when you are about to have your period [I started mine a while ago.. When I was about your age, Im 13 now though] you start having a little bit of cramps. But like the other answers, I think you should wear pantyliners until then. You should ask your mom to go buy you pads [maybe even some tampons; my mom showed me how to use one using an orange as an example vagina... it made me laugh but it was informative] anyway, ask your mom to get you pads/tampons/wipes and keep them secure in a pocket in your bookbag that you rarely use, possibly even a purse would be better. Periods normally last from 5-7 days, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. You will most likely [some girls are lucky and dont get these] get cramps, but thats nothing some Midol cant help. :] Midol is the best medicine to help stop the acheing down there. And as for if you are in a waterpark, if you feel any warm discharge if you are in a pool and know its not urine, get out and hopefully have that purse prepared.

Also, how to tell your mom;
just sit her down one on one, make sure noone is around, and just tell her "Mom Ive started my period, and I need help on getting supplies..." Something along those lines =]

Good luck! :]

Its coming soo. We will NOT^ know. Every one is different.
well you don't hAVE TO WURRY because i am 11 it just means you are developing thats all trust me i haven't had mine either and if i do i live with my dad not with m,y mom so thats even worse trust me
ok it doesnt really matter when your mom started

sooo when you see DARK and i mean DARK spots on your underwear, start to wear pantiliners. every girl has a discharge to clean your thing down there. you'll feel it when u have your period. jsut have your backpack with you at ALL times. with THICK pads and wipes.
When my daughter turned 12 I talked to her about the possibility of her period starting, and bought her pads to carry in her bookbag so she would be prepared.

That's one of life's mysteries - when one's period will start. Ask your mom now if she would feel comfortable talking about it with you and if she says yes, then ask her your questions. If your mom is not comfortable you might want to speak with the school nurse. Or, just keep coming back to Yahoo - there are a lot of people here with good information.

no need to wear pads. you can wear panty liners in the meantime (it will also help with any discharge you may have). And bring a pad with you (keep it in your bag). But no need to walk around wearing a pad when you don't have your period. It's not good to wear one anyways when you don't have your period - it'll cause rash eventually cause of all the rubbing and whatnot. Panty liners will do the trick.

If you're embarrassed to talk to your mom, ask your pediatrician. Regardless, you're going to have to tell your ped. when you actually get it anyways, so it's good to talk to the doctor.

You really should talk to your mom, but if you're still embarrassed (which is understandable, but she's your mom and can help you) do you have any cousins or older sisters to talk to? I found it easy to go to my big sis and my cousin when I started to show the signs.
Your bra size does not matter. Sometimes you may have a heavy discharge if you don't drink a lot of water. You may experience cramping before your period or none at all. Don't worry! It's natural for all girls to experience this. You may want to go to your school nurse and tell her. Our nurse is very understanding and helpful. If your Mom has not spoke with you regarding this, just start asking her questions. I know it can be embarrasing for you, but it is to her as well. You are her baby girl growing up. It's just part of life that we all go through. She won't mind you using pads. Good Luck!
Relax, take a deep breath, periods are a normal part of a young girls life, and everyone knows that girls get them. It's a part of life, and us girls just have to deal with it.

Your period will come when your body is ready, I got my period about 6 months after my 12th birthday, so you still have awhile to go. I happened to get my period at school, it wasn't a big deal, I just told the teacher and she gave me a note to go to the office so I could call home. The next day a few kids asked why I left school early, but to be honest I didn't get made fun of at all. People who laugh at these issues are very immature because periods happen to every girl.

If you happen to get your period, just tell your mother. If you don't want to say it directly just say, "Mom I think you might need to buy some extra pads." She'll get the hint. Periods usually can last anywhere from 5-7 days, but it's not so bad.

Signs of getting your first period vary, there aren't really any specific signs because every girl is different. Some common signs include, feeling bloated, mild cramping, discharge, tender breasts, sore breasts, tiredness.

If you're at a waterpark don't worry about it, pack some extra pads in case, be extra prepared. At school make sure to pack some extra pads in your backpack and an extra pair of underwear.

Periods are not a big deal at all! =)
Your period will come in its own time. Just in case for school make an emegency period kit. With pads, extra underware, midol(for cramps). You will be okay! When it does come just go up to your mom and say "Mom, I got my period." She will be very understanding and explain everything to you. I would tell her right when you get it. If you are to nervous to tell face to face write her a letter or send an email to her. If it happens while your swimming quickly wrap yourself with a towel and tell someone. Your period might be awhile, but if it does happen soon relax and stay calm. You will be just fine.
its alright dont worry about it all girls get it. usually your first time on the first day it will not be bad at all so you can go throuhgt the day without any supplies. just carry a pad and or tampon in your purse or store in your locker. its not a big deal just tell your mom even if it is embarresing that way she can buy you supplies. i didnt want to tell my mom but my friend said she would tell her then so i did and it wasnt a big deal. at waterparks tampons would be the best idea but at first you might not feel comfortable using them. when i didnt know how to use them i just went into the water with no pad or tampon which sounds gross but no one knew and it washed in the water. i would suggest getting a black bathing suit for these reasons and a pair of black shorts to put over your bathing suit incase of a leak. it does seem like a big deal but when you get it its not at all. plus you have an excuse to leave class i use to fake cramps when i was bored in class and i used to tell the nurse my period leaked throuhg my pants and i got to go home ! so theres a good excuse lol
wow, don't be so worried. i'm fifteen and started experiencing signs of the menustrational cycle at age seven in second grade. on october tenth of fourth grade, when i was nine years old, my first period came. however, my mother wasn't informed until that august. every girl is different, some start going through puberty earlier than others, while a few are delayed in the process. maybe you will get it soon or there might be a few years before such a thing will happen. sometimes people will get it and have a long gap between the first two. the duration of bleeding also depends on the individual. for instance, my mum usually gets it for about four days, while mine lasts at least a week to ten days. as for the signs, there are people who get signs prior to their period. these signs include abdominal cramps, headaches, migraines, muscle pains, cramping of the muscles, fatigue, etc. most people usually know when it's coming after a while, because the menustration cycle normally sticks to a pattern. so, when you get your first one, keep a diary of it to get an estimate of the next one and management of it. do you get cramps? If your really worried about the cycle, let your mother know. there's nothing to be embarassed about. she went through a similar situation and will probably know how to help. anyways, just to be prepared, you should buy some sanitary napkins and keep them with you at all times... just in case of an emergency. Actually, it's better to get it at a water park, than in school, other public places, or dance class, such as i did =( this is because, when your private area is wet, even with a bathing suit on, the blood tends to get hidden =) however, not everyone gets that lucky. there still is a chance of it being displayed. just avoid wearing white pants, until your sure that the first period has past. some people have a heavy flow, while others don't or are somewhere in the middle. the blood will go through pants and most likely stain clothing, unless washed with soap and water immediately. by the way if you like to swim, feel free to jump into a pool or the beach, during your "time of the month". it's okay, you can wear a pad in your bathing suiit, if you'd like to hide evidence of blood, after dry. well, i hope i've been of some help to you. bye!
calm down a bit please! try not to worry yourself over getting your period, every girl gets there period so there is nothing to be ashamed of, like your mother will have been through all of that herself and will know what its like, when you do get it just say to her 'mom i have some news for you, i started my period'. like and then she will get you the pads you need, like it isin't like you are the only person in the whole world to get them, every single woman living gets there period in there life. just bring some change(money) to school with you for like the machines that have the pads and that, or else carry around one in your school bag for when the time comes and if you are really stuck and have no money in school with you when you start your period go to a female teacher and say it quitley to her and she will get you what you need. you are only turning 12 but you can get your period between the ages of 9-16 so you might have a while to wait. Sometimes when you get discharge i don't think it is always corrett to tell you when your period is coming or not. you are still young enough and you should be looking forward to getting your period and look at it as a proud time for you becoming a young woman. the signs i can give you, but is not always the way, blood stains on your knickers, cramps and pains in your side and back, moodiness etc. Oooo..and before i go when you have your period and you are in water it stops but starts when you get out of the water, dont worry hun you will be fine when you get your period! and good luck to it 2 ok, hope i helped!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
