Questions about shaving...?

Question:
Ok, I'm 13 and I've been shaving for a while now, since I think 4th grade. And you know, all of a sudden for the last few months I've been really self conscious about my legs, because
A. the hair starts growing back by the next day
B. it's really dark
and
C. when I shave, on the inside of my legs you can see the black roots of the hair very clearly and it's embarrasing.

What can I do to avoid these? For most of the other girls it's the opposite, like they have really lite hair that only grows back after a few days and you can't see any roots.

Please help! I have really low self esteem and I'm trying really hard to fix it.

Also, when I shave my armpits, it's the same as it is with my legs--It starts growing back really fast and it's really dark and I can see the roots, plus, it's so bumpy that I don't even get a very close shave anyway.

What should I do about these? Thanks!

Answers:
I would try waxing, since it actually pulls the hairs out instead of just cutting them. And that's what it sounds like you need. =)
This is completely normal. You're going through puberty and your body hair is getting thicker and growing faster. Use shaving cream or lathered up shower gel to get a closer shave.
OMG! I have the exact, and I mean EXACT, same problem. You can see the hair follicles under the skin when I shave. It's happened to me since the sixth grade I think, and Its still that way today. Whenever I shave my legs, within a few hours, the hairs are growing back. I get goosbumps alot though, and it stimulates the hair growth. Under my arms, It's really bumpy, and when I do happen to get a close shave there, it's all shadowy, and from a few feet away (in the mirror) it doesn't look as though I've shaved at all.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. All the other girls I knew at that age had perfect legs and underarms, even when they were going through puberty. I was soooo self-conscious and embarrassed.

I hate to tell you this, but the only way to make it less noticeable is to lotion up your legs every day and try to get a tan. The lotion moistens the hair on your legs, and makes it softer, while the tan makes your legs darker and helps make the follicles less noticeable.

I just wore pants instead of bothering myself with how to fix my problem. Even today, I'm 17 and still avoiding it. The only difference between now and back then is the fact that I'm less caring about what other people think, because believe it or not, the other girls you see around you probably have bigger problems to worry about than their legs. They might have deep secret problems, and you just have a surface one like I do.

Please be strong. I know it's hard because of your self-esteem, but you're not the only one whose had to go through this. I don't think that my hair will ever be any lighter than it is on my legs or under my arms, but if the people who happen to see it don't like it, then they can lump it.

Good luck by the way. If you ever find some other way to make them less noticeable, contact me on here and let me know. I've been dying for a really effective solution for a long long time. (Try the lotion and thing, I've also heard of people using lemon juice and hair bleach to lighten the hair on their face, that might work for you too).
the more often you shave your legs, the faster the hairs gonna grow. my arm pit hair grows quickly and there is a lot of it. i use a good shaver, for me, the venus shaver. you may want to try the hair removal creams like nair, or veet, it may last longer for ya. good luck.
ask perents if u can wax never done it but it should help
go on line and search for an epilady. It pulls the hair out from the root. After a lot of uses your hair will grow lighter and less. Have you tried Nair or neet those could maybe help. good luck.
the best bet would be to consult a skin specialist. This kind of thing happens when you start shaving so early. The earlier you start the darker hair roots become. try using hair removing creams instead of shavers. If this does not help wear trousers.
