Should I go on birth control?
Question:
Answers:
Any doctor you will ask will GLADLY put you on the pill and brag that there are no bad side effects.
We stupidly trusted our doctors and I was put on the pill around your age. Today, I am 35 and cannot have children and because I took those fake hormones...mine are messed up, still today. Cases like mine are more frequent than you expect but your doctor will never tell you about it...because then they can't get you to buy their drugs.
There are much safer alternatives to help you survive your cramps and moods...visit an herb shop/vitamin store and speak with someone in charge there.
It's now part of my mission to tell as many people as possible what the pill (FAKE CHEMICAL hormones) did to me. It's called a medical practice for a reason...they are practicing on YOU!! Learn for yourself...read for yourself...
GOOD LUCK! :)
Birth control will make you gain weight. It may hurt your health. I know women who have been on birth control for a long time, went off hoping to have a child and never had one. They blame the birth control.
birth control's benefits will outweigh the risks in your case. unless you are over 35 and smoke, your chances of serious complications are slim. the weight gain would be minor and your periods could only improve. of course, talk to your doctor about all of these things but i know a girl that was in a similar situation at a young age and has had great luck on the pill...so you should consider it! good luck!
i am 22 and have been on birth control for a few years. i have never gained weight. and as long as you dont smoke you should be fine, but you can discuss everything with your doctor. but yes, i think birth control will help with your pms. it has regulated my period and reduced its length, flow, and cramps. and ps i am a virgin so you can take it if you have never had sex.
I was 17 when I started birth control for the same reasons you are considering it. I had horrible cramps and my periods were really irregular. The difference was amazing. The cramps still come, but nowhere near as bad. They made my periods a lot lighter too. Plus, if your doctor says it's OK for you, there is the option of using birth control "continuously" - which means I only have a period 4 times a year. Which rocks. I've been taking the pill for 20 years now. It does increase your risk for certain things - especially if you smoke. But the risks are minor compared to the benefits. Go to the doctor and talk it over. As for weight - I didn't gain any.
BUT - don't forget - when it is time, be sure to use a condom. You still have to protect yourself.
The pill can help with your painful cramps, but may not help with your moodiness. Whether or not you're a virgin has nothing to do with being on the pill. The pill makes SOME people gain weight (I've been on it for 9 years, and have not gained a pound), and as far as whether or not it harms your health- that's a question for your doctor. I recommend bringing all your concerns to your doctor- he or she will be able to help you make an educated decision. Good luck!
Well, I've heard of people getting birth control at 11 or 12! You should see a doctor about birth control. Because Birth control will regulate your periods and help with the cramping, but it won't necesserily help you with your mood swings, so you may need something else for that.
You're not too young, you'll be fine. Sometimes certain birth control pills will make you gain a bit of weight but it depends on what kind you get and what affect it has on you. My friend, who used birth control to regulate her periods, she was having periods one after the other, cramps and all..Her doc. perscribed her birth control that was supposed to help her skin and acne. My cousing went on birth control for sexual reasons, and she got BIG boobs and a nice plum butt, and let me tell you before birth control she had NOTHING.
So, it depends. and sometimes it doesn't do anything to your body [visually]. It depends. See a doctor first though, and birth control isn't a bad way to go.
Just don't abuse it, ya' know? Because you can still get preggy if you're considering becoming sexually active with your boyfriend, and make sure he's the one worth it, most guys nowadays just want another piece of meat.
Good luck!
xx
Birth control does not help your symptoms of your period other than you may bleed less, however it does help with PMS. I have been on birth control for over 2 years and i still get really bad cramps that make me cry & sometimes even scream, and i still get very moody this has not changed. Some people get less cramps but the way that you explained things it sounds like you have the same thing i had but less severe which means that it probably wont help you all that much. If your looking for something to relieve the pain ask your doctor for 600mg of ibprofuen (not sure of spelling) & take it 3 days before your period this helps with the pain & the cramps.
For your second Question, it may make you gain weight it may not it varies, every body is diff. some gain wieght but those that do dont normally gain more than 2-4 pounds. i actually lost a few pounds.
& yes there are certian health risks like cancer but the risks are so low that its not a big thing to worry about.
hope i helped. :]
Have you ever seen a gynecologist? I think a pelvic exam is a good place to start.
If the doctor doesn't see any structural reason why your periods are so bad, then he/she can discuss different options.
It is true that birth control pills are often used to lessen the pain of periods. But there are a lot of different birth control pills with different amounts and combinations of hormones. Your doctor can help you determine which one will give you the best benefits with the lowest risks.
Some birth control pills can cause weight gain, along with breast tenderness.
Congratulations for still being a virgin. I hope you continue to be so for several more years.
