It's time for your first pap smear. You don't have to be afraid of a gynecologist. Go with your mom or a friend. You'll feel so much better after you go. You'll feel better physically because the doctor will know what's going on. You'll feel better emotionally, because you won't be all stressed anymore. It's not like you're 13! You're 17! Stop being afraid to see the gynecologist! It's really no big deal. it doesn't hurt, and the doctor will fix your problem. Go tomorrow. I promise you'll be glad you did. :)
i highly doubt it's cancer. if you started getting your period late in life, it could still be regulating. or, you could just have an irregular cycle. seeing a gyencologist is a good idea, you're at the right age to start seeing one. oh, and the stress isn't going to help you, it can make your period come late. good luck.
I'm not a woman or a professional... but I am a dad, and I'd venture to say that at age 17 you're still going to experience irregular cycles. If things don't return to normal after a few of these, you should see the doc though.
Your young, not regulated yet, if you not worried about being pregnant, give it a bit. Are you dieting? Severe dieting can really mess up your cycle. The skinner you are you are more irregular also. Stress is bad, at your age anything can throw you off schedule. When I was your age, well 1 year older at 18 I did the same thing, my doctor put me on a "mini pill" to regulate me, worked liked a charm. You are at the correct age to start seeing a gyno since you have not done so already. Do not worry about it, they have seen it all before, probably more than you will ever imagine they have seen, get recommendations from your friends, school nurse etc, adults you trust to search for one you like.
You are barely spotting and your periods are irregular. It is NOT cancer. If your next period is like this, you should see a doctor just to make sure your hormones are working properly.
I wouldn't worry about it. I'm 17 too, and just as afraid to see an OBGYN. I have the same problem you do, and am currently going on my second and a half month without having a period. I'm not sexually active, but I am skinny and have low body fat.

If you exercise alot, you can develope a condition called secondary amenorrhea. It's when a woman doesn't have enough fat on her body to support her having her period. I have this and only get my period like four times a year. There is also another condition called primary amenorreah in which the woman doesn't get her period until really late in her life (like around age 18), and she has light spotting until she hits menopause.

You shoudl probably still see an obgyn. I have my first ever appointment set up for next week, and it's to get my periods regular with the pill because I'm tired of never knowing when it's coming.

I know it sounds scary, but it can't be too bad if all other women do it and love the fact that they can have someone to talk to about personal things like their menstrual cycles.

Good Luck!

By the way, I've had my period since I was ten, and all this crap about it becoming regular as you grow means nothing to me. I matured faster than all the other girls, and it's still not regular. The only way to fix it is with the pill.
