Answers:    The Mirena is one of the most effective birth control methods (99.9%), and when it agrees next to you, it's wonderful. It can cause your period to cease altogether, and you won't own to think almost contraception.

It can cause freight gain, lowered libido, benign ovarian cysts, and mood changes, though, and it make some women miserable. It also raises your risk of pelvic infections. I have mine taken out when it caused a pretty primary infection.

It'd be good to switch to something bar the Patch, which releases much higher doses of hormones into your system than the Pill. This raise your risk of blood clots.

Other possibilities would be the NuvaRing, a vaginal ring you replace once a month, and the nonhormonal IUD, Paragard. Paragard causes heavier menstrual bleeding and cramps, but this repeatedly eases during the first year of use. If the shots weren't perfect for you, I'd stay away from the implant. It's not smooth to take out if it cause you problems.
I too have difficulty using hormonal BC. I seriously considered getting an IUD after the birth of my son but after some research discovered that IUDs in actual fact ALLOW you to concieve every single month (if you have sex at the right time, as you would expect!).

While they allow for conception they do not allow implantation to occur - they are an abortifacient. If you are married or surrounded by a steady relationship that could mean as several as 12 "abortions" a year! Morally I couldn't justify that for my own convienence, and settled against the IUD.

The truth is the patch might be the next best item if hormonal BC works for you (my body rejected it). I don't believe they offer Norplant contained by the United States anymore, but if you live outside the US you might look into that.

It's difficult to find a BC that works for you and your lifestyle. Ultimately I just settled to have my familial now and catch my tubes tied when all of my children are born. Of course, if you aren't looking to enjoy a family in a minute that won't work for you!

Good luck, I hope you find something that works!
There's something called the slip. I don't know exactly how it works, but it is supposed to be more long term than the patch.
