You can call in each other on weekends.
I lived 2 1/2 hours away from my NOW fiance. Every weekend I be free, I went to stop by him. I did that for over a year.
Plus, the times they are NOT in college, could be spent next to each other.
But close to I said it takes TRUST and work for a long distance relationship to work.

That age difference is pretty large, and that way that you both are in completely separate stages of your lives. He probably have a stable job and since he have kids already wants someone to settle down next to. As for the girl, she wants to walk to school, which mode no time for the guy and more time spent focusing on your career which he might not even be interested contained by.
It could potentially work but the chances of it stirring are slim.
