I dont know what you've read or heard so far but you probably know within are different methods. Consider your priorities and answers from these and your provider can help you pick the right product.
1. length of time you want to be on BC
2. flexibility to stop and start
3. side effects (wanted and unwanted) and risks
4. cost
5. permanency
6. how live you (think you) will be.
7. Convenience/Method. i.e. Do you really want to remember pills every day? or is that more appealing than a shot?
8. Availability. Can you seize it over the counter or do you need an Rx?

you probably dont want permanency at your age, but for example some methods later 3-5 years. Maybe you dont want any kids for at least another 5 years??
But for example, I'm 36 and I am have an IUD fitted tomorrow. It will last 5 years. That will pretty much purloin care of the rest of my reproductive years lacking having to resort to surgery, and I can own it taken out if I change my mind. I own 2 kids already. My situation is very different than yours. I used the pill contained by college, Depo once.
You're almost 20?
Then drive to a Planned Parenthood. They will give you the BC at a low cost, near no exam and no questions. Stop worrying nearly what your mom will think. If you're really as old-fashioned as you say you are. (I hold my doubts, but whatever)
