Question:
I have endo, adenomyosis and PCOS, surgically proven, and am still dealing with the pain. Now of course, the adenomyosis diagnosis is not 100% accurate because they say the only "real" way to know is to have it taken out. But it's suspect from my laparoscopy. Anyway, I have been floated around to several different gynos, and all but 1 were men. My husband is in the military and we move around, a lot. Each time we are restationed I have to check in to the hospital, explain my situation (and why I am on Ultram and motrin and sometimes vicodin) bring them my surgical report and sit there while they do another "exam" on me and explain that my pain can't be caused by what I say it is. Yesterday's male gyno suggested I may not really even have endometriosis, despite what the surgeon noted, and wants me to do ANOTHER pelvic ultra sound. (Those aren't fun, you have to drink 32 oz. of water before). What is up with these guys trying to make me feel as if they know more and I am not hurting?
Answers:
Men don't completely understand the pain we women go through, because they have never had to experience it. I have Polycycstic Ovarian Disease, and every cycle turns painful after a cycst ruptures. Alot of pain and alot of bleeding. It took me 4 different OB/GYN's to find one that understood. It is a male Dr. but he is awesome. Some Dr's. men or women just don't seem to have the "care" jean in their body to be a Dr. Sorry you have to go through that, but know that there are women out there who know your pain. Good Luck!
I have a very sympathetic male Dr. Perhaps it is military Dr's in general that act like that. I'm really sorry it sounds like you are dealing with jerks.
Everytime you go into a doctor's office, it is more money for them. They run these tests on you to generate more income for themselves. Plus, being male, they don't know what real, constant, chronic pain is. Hope you find a compassionate MD soon. I've felt your pain & it hurts like the dickens.
