Yeast infections and doctors?

They can do a swab without going deep or using a speculum. So your virginity won't be an issue.
Also, IF you do have a yeast infection, you'll be given a prescription for a pill that is a one dose cure.
If the doc says to get Monistat or similar, ask for the yeast pill instead. Cream cures require insertion of the applicator and it wouldn't be as effective if not pushed past your hymen.
In the future if you feel at all itchy, have a bottle of Acidophilus pills handy and take one or two a day at the first signs. It's a natural remedy THAT WORKS, for yeast infections. It's not great if you've got a raging infection, but will prevent or stop infections that are just beginning. It's also a far cheaper cure than Monistat, which rings in around $15, compared to $10 for acidophilus. The acidophilus will last for months of prevention though, whereas the Monistat is used up on one infection.
Eating yogurt daily or often helps prevent yeast infections. Yogurt contains acidophilus.
GL and welcome to womanhood ;P
Yes, all medical doctors can diagnose a yeast infection.
yes, your regular doc should be able to do whatever a gyno would do.. and be able to tell if it is yeast or not.. however, gyno appts do NOT hurt
are you on any type of antibiotic? that will cause yeast infections. sometimes taking a bath can cause it.
i'm sure your regular doc will be able to tell with a urine sample. don't stress it - its good that you are on top of it!
You need to go the gyn eventually. but.. monostat7.. over the counter.. years ago when I was getting my yeast infections that was a prescription fix. just go buy monostat7.. but.. gyns are important.. you need to see one..
Yes, your general practice doctor can diagnose a yeast infection. However, your general practice doctor STILL has to exam you vaginally in order to give you the proper medication. Your should just go to the gyn. Don't let everyone scare you away from going to the gyn to get a vaginal exam. Every-ones' experience is different some people think it hurts and some don't. But to be honest with you, the exams does not hurt. Good luck!
