What are the dangers of smoking on birth control?

Question:
Im on a low dose of birth control and it says if your under 35 that you should not smoke. Well im 16, and if me smoking is gonna hurt me then ill quit. I know the dangers of smoking, but I want to know exactly what happens if you smoke while on birth control.

Answers:
Smoking increases the risk of blot clots, heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure. Trust me, quit smoking on the pill because I got a blood clot as a result of the pill and I dont even smoke. It's dangerous to smoke on birth control - smoking narrows your arteries & veins and thus making it easier for blood to clot.
Smoking while on the pill increases the chances of blood clots which can lodge in either your heart or lungs. This normally kills you. The risk is small, but women as young as 19 have died, so age will not protect you. Take the advice on the pack. Quit smoking. It's hard, but it's harder yet to quit at 28. Put the $$ you would have spent on cigarrettes in a jar and get yourself something fun/nice once a year as a thank you to yourself for quitting.
A recent study confirmed that women increase the risk of having a heart attack by 30 times when they smoke and take a daily, low-dose birth control pill.

The other concern is the increased risks of blood clots. They can go anywhere in your body. When they go to your brain they cause a stroke. Have you ever known anyone who had a stroke - not a pretty picture!

Cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects from oral contraceptive use.Women who use oral contraceptives should be strongly advised not to smoke. More specifically, risks increase for heart attacks, blood clots, stroke, liver cancer, and gallbladder disease, although the risk is very small in healthy women without underlying risk factors.

Quit smoking if you can
My cousin did that. She was a couple of years older than you. She got a blood clot in her leg and almost lost it.
DANGER DANGER THIS IS DANGEROUS!! DON'T DO IT!!!
If you're 16 and already smoking and on birth control, I think you have worse problems. Why don't you just reserve your place in the trailer park now.
Smoking while on the pill increases the risk of strokes and blood clots.

Since smoking is dangerous to begin with, since there is an increased risk of lung cancer, emphesyma, etc... then one should quit even if they aren't going to take the pill.

Good luck to you, I'm glad that you're going to quit.
Better quit smoking.
