Is it dangerous for a woman to maintain a body fat % of 12%?

Question:
even if she is at a healthy weight for her height?
will it affect her menses or make her periods stop at this percentage of body fat?
i'd like to slim down just a bit (and STILL be within my healthy weight range), and tone up to get my BF% below 15%, but i'm afraid it would affect my menstrual cycle or anything else...i was told that most supermodels, swimsuit models, female athletes and ballerinas have stopped getting their periods because of their really low body fat.
please advice?

Answers:
12% is just fine

11-13% is normal

Whoops - I misread that. 10-13% is the minimum ESSENTIAL fat levels for women.

You'll survive fine.
NO
My suggesstion. Don't try to slim down. Try to live a healthy life and then it will show.

I'm an overweight person for as long as I can remember and I know, that everytime I obsess about my weight, I gain more. I'm not saying, your body will do this.

I do know that if you diet and do so many exercise, without replacing the calories you burn, then your body will go into starvation mode, actually storing your body fat instead of burning it.

I say, adapt a healthy lifestyle. Eat healthy. Exercise. Meditate sometimes and smile.

A few indulgence in moderation won't hurt you.
No Dangerous, But Because You Eat Less, So Low Vitamins, So Eat More Multi Vitamins, To Change Or Convert Your Diet, You Will Have A Good Body, Good Healt, Oo.. Yah.. Add Some Sports.. Best Regards, EddyLim777@yahoo.com.sg
Do not bother.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
