Hysterectomy Question?
Question:
Answers:
I think, you can get elective surgery to prevent cervical cancer, since your @ high risk.
I would discuss this with your Gynecologist. However, I would keep your ovaries because without your uterus, you would go into menopause.
They might request some counseling for you to make sure you won't have any regrets.
I don't know of any Dr that would preform an elected hysterectomy.
It is not likely they would do a hysterectomy on someone your age. Especially if you have not had children and are unmarried. It would be highly unlikely that they would even perform a tubal ligation on you.
You can consult with an oncologist about this and he can do tests and a genetic study to make a recommendation, but while genetics play a role in the incidence of cancers in families it is not considered a real predictor.
Have regular pap smears annually and relax. You are not necessarily going to get cancer because it runs in the family.
