Birth Control Medication and Miscarriage? (A curiosity question)?

Question:
I'm no expert in either area, but I've always wondered if women on "the patch" or "the pill" to prevent pregnancy are at higher risks for having a miscarriage when they are trying to conceive?

I don't mean to upset anyone, because I know how traumatic this can be. The reason I ask is because I have bad periods, and I know my mother is on the pill to regulate hers. However, I've always been afraid of trying medication for it because of how it would affect my body in the future.

Could there be a correlation, or do I just worry too much?

Answers:
As someone who has experienced a miscarriage, I can tell you that, really, there is no correlation. Women who take the pill or are on a contraceptive of any sort are not more at risk of miscarrying.

The one bc option that would be of concern is the IUD, which can cause scarring of the uterus and can lead to infertility if the damage is done. A friend of mine had the IUD placed a long time ago... and b/c of it, she cannot have children.
i think that would have to be studied.however i never had the problem.i got pg much faster when i stopped using the pill.
There are no studies that link birth control to permanently lowered fertility.
