I have to have a colposcopy done because of an abnormal Pap smear and I am scared.any advice?

Relax, i really think you should tell one person either your best friend a significant other or a sister or cousin or something. you need to have some you can vent to and let them help you relax and you need someone to drive you back and forth for a colonoscopy because you are put under anesthesia and you can't drive after. so you would need to tell them what you are having done anyways. just confide in one person it will help wonders. if you let that stress get to you without talking about it..you could cause more problems.
RELAX IT IS COMMON FOR PPL TO HAVE THIS PROCEDURE. I WENT THROUGH IT MYSELF 2 YEARS AGO. ANY MY GRANDMOTHER HAD SIMILAR COMPLICATIONS. MOST LIKELY IT IS JUST FORM OF DISPLAYSIA THAT MADE THE PAP COME BACK ABNORMAL WHICH IS OKAY. SMOKING AND HAVING SEX BEFORE THE EXAM CAN ALSO CAUSE ABNORMAL RESULTS..BUT RELAX. LIKE I SAID I HAVE BEEN THROUGH IT. I HOPE ALL IS WELL. BUT AFTER THIS YOU WILL PROB HAVE TO GET A PAP EVERY 6 MOS JUST TO KEEP EVERYTHING IN CHECK.

it only takes up to 20-30 minutes.
it does not hurt a lot but heads up you wil feel some pain.
dont wear a tampon before or after
you will have to empty your bowels before
if you cannot the doctor can give you some medicine to empty it

Unfortunately, I have had two colpops. I have had several abnormal PAPs due to the HPV virus. I will tell you the truth, it is uncomfortable. The best thing I can tell you, though, is that my doctor and nurse were awesome about it. Right before the doctor snipped off a sample to send to the lab, he told me to cough. Right then, he snipped the sample. I didn't feel him doing it. Maybe you could ask your doctor about that.
