I really am worried about my
physical coming up and i know this
is nasty but what do they do please help!
Answers:
If you're referring to a physical given by your gynocologist which I presume you are based on where you posted this question it'll go something like this:
1.) A nurse will ask for a urine sample, update your chart, and take your blood pressure.
2.) You'll then be asked to take off all of your bottom half clothing, and unhook your bra before the doctor comes in
3.) When the doctor come in they'll ask you about your periods, any discharge, any cocnerns, if your sexually active
4.) Then they'll go about an exam.
The exam will/should consist of:
1.) A breast exam - the doctor will just feel your breasts for abnormal lumps
2.) A pelvic exam - you'll sit on the bed with your feet in stirrups, the doctor will sit down with a light pointed in your vaginal area, insert a small duck-billed instrument called a speculum. Then he/she will do a "looking" exam where they just look at coloring, and shape/size, then they'll insert 1 or 2 fingers in your vagina and do a hand-on exam of your ovaries, and stuff. Then lastly they'll take a long q-tip like thing, swab it around to collect cells from your cervix, and send it off to the lab to check for precancerous or cancerous cells.
At that point you'll be finished, told to change, and your doctor will leave the room.
I know it seems long but it only takes a few minutes for the entire exam, and to be honest, when I had mine done last week (it was my first one ever, even though I'd been to the gyno before) I had no idea she was even doing it until I saw her throw the speculum away.
If your referring to a school physical, it'll be easy.
1.) The nurse will check your height, weight, blood pressure, eyes, ears
2.) A doctor will come in and look at the inside of your ears, your eyes, and your throat
3.) They'll do an abdominal exam by gently pushing on your abdomen
4.) They'll have you bend over and touch your toes/walk in a stright line to check your spine
5.) They may have you stand up, arms extended to the side, eyes closed, alternate touching your pointer fingers to your nose
6.) They may peek down in your vaginal area for hair growth
7.) Have you pee in a cup, order blood work
8.) Ask about periods, if you smoke, if you drink, if you wear your seatbelt, if your parents smoke or drink
8.) Then they'll catch you up on vaccinations and you'll be finished

Even though im not a girl, but I've heard from my girl friends that they check your height, and weight and your eyes. They also check your heart rate and all the other usual stuff. The worst thing they do to you is they check your vagina by making you spread your legs while the doctor checks it.
Do you mean a regular physical or a gyno physical?
If u mean regular physical, whats so nasty?
If u mean gyno, it will be over quicker then u can imagine, it doesnt really hurt, and they see tons of people a day, nothing to be embarrased about

What is nasty?
There is nothing nasty about a physical exam. The doctor checks you over as Peatea explained. If you have been sexually active and are concerned about that, do not be. The doctor does not care of you have had sex or not Her/his only concern is that you are healthy and do not have anything wrong. Also your medical information is confidential. If something is wrong and you are a minor no doubt it will be discussed with your parents, but other then that there is nothing to be concerned about. Please get it out of your head that this is nasty.

Well let's put things in their proper perspective 1st. "Take off al your clothes Kayla". Thats what you're going to hear. I'll leave out the part about the paper gown. You'll hear that from them. If you can't handle that, don't go. OMG you'd think it was the end of the world ! Grow up ! Its 2007 !
