Shave downwards with the hair, not against it. this will prevent rash. But what i really recommend doing is getting waxed.

i have been doing it for over 10 years and i do it like once a week. use baby oil and a man's razor no joke! it works
use baby oil after also.
No matter how you shave it, it comes back thicker. And the thing I don't like about it (and other girls have this problem too) is that as it grows back it can get pretty itchy! I'd rather get it waxed but I dont' feel like asking my mom about that lol. Some girls just trim it really short, which works for them.
use an electric bikini trimmer first then lots of shaving cream and be CAREFUL. hint I have always had a red bumpy rash when shaving bikini area and underarms DOVE radiant silk deodarant has made the rash go away. even in the bikini area
They sell a product called Bikini Zone at drug stores and places like Walmart. They have two different products. One is a gel you put on after to help with bumps and redness the other is a gel you use to shave with... in place of regular shaving cream. The stuff is amazing! Oh, also use a sharp razor... a dull one will increase bumps and redness.
i found if you use soap and shave with a guys razor and shave down and afterwards you put lotion onnbut non fragrent(cuase it erritats the skinn cuz its to sensitive) and put a cold rag in the area it will prevent bumps
Don't shave. Go to a cosmetician either to get advice or to get it waxed.
I have been wondering the same thing. an came to the conclusion of getting some clippers! just for my girlfriend (down there) an it works I can get as low as I like. you can also get to places that hard to reach or see..
