Because it will just be a one off, the Doctor will probably be happy to prescribe it. I took it a few years ago when I was a smoker and my Doc said that because it wasn't a long term thing the chances of me developing anything serious was minimal. I am taking it again in August. Go and get it. There is nothing worse than being on holiday and having your period. Have a great time!!!!!
Sorry but you should know by now if your 44 that there is no pill out there to stop your period.I'm sorry but you have to deal with being a women.But good luck to you
Wear a tampon so you can prob go 4-6 hours without changing it and for the cramps and bloating take midol cafine free (purple Box) becasue caffine gets you worse oo and dont drink anythign with caffine but thats about it, theres no way you can acually stop a period.
i would stop smoking and get out off the nasty habbit ... then i would just have to say use a tampon erm i have heard about ''the pill''' thats what it is called ... i thein ... hopee i could helpp ... summer_yehh
Have you tried the mirina ?(spell?) coil IUD? I am 40 and a big bird so can't go on the pill. I had really heavy periods and this coil has really lightened the load as it were!

You should speak to your doctor about what you will be able to do because due to the smoking there is nothing that you can take safely.
go to yr gp about the tab to make you stop. its only a temporey thing and should be ok for wen yr away, dont consider a hysterectomy, i had one at 36 due to endo, but its was the biggest mistake ive made, ive been in more pain due to bad surgery, and can not use my bladder or bowel proper since, all i do is sleep. hope this helps
mariana coil may benefit you with heavy periods as it is brilliant for almost none exsistant periods
Go to your doctors right, because i didn't want my period whilst i was in this dance show wearing skirts and things, but he said that going on the pill just before that period would stop that one for that month and i was so much happier to wear a skirt. =] hope i helped?
