I have an IUD And I have no money to get it removed...help??

Question:
I called my doctor and they told me I had to have 140 dollars upfront to get it removed. I have been having terrible cramps, sex is uncomfortable, period lasted only two days. I thoght I was pregnant, but I wasn't. I am worried it is hurting me.

Answers:
Look into a public health clinic (planned parenthood, your local health department...if they provide a womens health clinic) Increased cramping is common with IUD's, but it can also be a sign of an infection. Are you running a fever? If an infection is the problem causing your symptoms, it definetly needs to be removed asap. If you are really concerned, want it removed, and are unable to locate a public health clinic, go to the ER. They will do a workup for any infections and remove your IUD due to pain. They also will not require payment up front.
Are there any Planned Parenthoods by you? I think they have a clinic and can do that for you.
I suggest looking into a free clinic like planned parenthood. Usually if you say you are unemployed they will provide you with free services. Good luck
If you can't afford to get it removed, then you have no business getting pregnant. Get real. Get a job, work like a dog and don't get into the rat race of welfare.
if u can feel the thread from the iud in ur vagina u can generally remove it by
1` taking misoprostol tablets /2)laminaria tent insertion to vagina to dilate inner opening of womb and pulling it out.u know i would pay 4 it if i were u
Go to a place like Planned Parenthood, often they only charge you what you can afford, or offer free services if you can't afford anything.

Please, please, please, don't try to remove it yourself.
Definitely don't use the suggestion to remove it yourself, an IUD is something that is NEVER to be removed by someone other than a medical professional.

Like some others stated, you may want to check with a planned parenthood. Good luck to you.
When did you get it inserted? You def. need to go to a clinic like Planned Parenthood so that they can help you. There is an infection called PID that is fairly common with an IUD and if that is what it is then it needs to be treated.
