Sex questions?

Question:
Sex first time so I was just wondering.. If I am not on birth control, and only use condoms.. how effective is it that I wont get pregnant? is it rare for it to break and would you notice it?

Are pap smears required for birth control if ur not sexually active, or even if you are? and is it expensive?

Answers:
Condoms - if used EXACTLY as they should be - are about 84% effective. This means that out of 100 people using them, in one year 16 of them will become pregnant.

Condoms don't need to break to cause pregnancy. It can happen through a hole so small that even a pin won't fit through. Sperm are microscopic, don't forget.

Pap smears are generally required, as a full pelvic exam is necessary to rule out any pre-existing health issues that could contraindicate hormone birth control. You should have a pap smear starting at age 18 ANNUALLY, regardless of sexual activity, and sooner if you do become sexually active.

Pap smears and the office exam are covered by insurance; you can also obtain them at low or no cost from public health clinics or from Planned Parenthood.
There is a 2% chance that you can stil get prego.
I've been using condoms for over 25 years and can honestly say I've never broken one. I've never gotten VD, I've never gotten anyone pregnant either. (I have two kids now too. Got pregnant the first time we had sex without one!)
I think it's all propoganda that condoms break often. Just people trying to scare everybody into not having sex for their own religious reasons. Then their kids go out and have sex without using birth control and get VD more often than everyone else!
When used correctly, condoms are anywhere from 96% to 99% effective...supposedly. If they are not worn correctly, they have a higher chance of breaking therefore the risk of getting pregnant increases.
Yes, when getting a birth control i.e the pill, shot, patch, etc, a pap smear will be given even if you are not sexually active yet. Birth control is kinda expensive but I think places like Planned Parenthood have a scale to help determine how much you pay. I am not to sure how accurate that is though, I have a GYN and never have had to deal with PP.
Condoms break, and are not all that great when it comes to not getting pregnant......S... are better than NOT using them! Remember, don't use lambskin to keep HIV away, it won't work.
Condoms are a form of birth control... so I'm kind of confused by your question. If that's the ONLY form you're using, it should say right on the package the percentage of effectiveness (which has to do with a lot of factors ... did he put it on right, was he erect when he put it on, already discharging pre-***, etc) They're usually around 90%+ effective all alone, properly installed. :-)

Pap Smears will tell if you've contracted any STDs, and may be required if you'r egetting a dam installed, but not required to go to Walgreen's and pick up some condoms. You can go to the Department of Health, and they can give you a free screening.
Condoms are effective in preventing pregnancy and STD's when used correctly. The problem is people don't always use them correctly. You should notice if the condom broke although this isn't a common thing unless the condom is older.

You will need a pap smear to get birth control but you don't have to be sexually active to have one. Depending on where you live there should be a clinic, planned parenthood, etc that will give you an exam and birth control on a sliding scale. Also, a pap smear is no where near as expensive as a baby.

Glad you're looking into the condoms first. Good luck!
Barrier methods, which include the male condom, female condom, diaphragm, spermicide, the cervical cap, and the sponge (for those who have not given birth) yield fair typical user success rates between 71 to 85 percent.
condom does not 100% gurantee from getting pregnant !! Pap smear is a procedure to get cell sample from the cervix to detect early changes pertaining to cancer of the cervix. Any women who had sexual intercourse should go for this examination periodically.
