What are the pros and cons of Yaz Birth Control?

Question:
I am currently on Ortho (been on it for several years) but wanted to try something with less hormones and what may provide me with a shorter, more bearable period.

Answers:
i went on yaz. and i HATED it. my sex drive went completely down.. and im usually a VERY sexual person. im talking about from 7 times a a week to NONE. i was depresssed. super tiredd. no motivation to do anything... terrible mood swings. blood spotting. drynesss. i hated it. but i guess everyones body reacts different. but that is my personal opinion. if i were u i would just go to ortho lo.
I can only offer you my personal experience, so bear in mind that this may or may NOT apply to you (or anyone else):

1. My periods stopped completely within 2 months.

2. I had horrible constipation ALL the time (that even bulking laxatives wouldn't help).

3. My urine turned very dark and had a horrible odor.

4. My sex drive dropped to absolute ZERO.

5. I experienced horrible vaginal dryness.

6. I ended up with a yeast infection my first month of taking YAZ.

7. My moods changed.

8. My breasts were CONSTANTLY painful (far beyond "tender").

I was taking it in an effort to control peri-menopausal symptoms, but I ended up with more problems than it was helping.
If you're having no problems with what you're taking then there really isn't much sense in changing.
I'm not sure but try ortho tri-cyclen lo. since your body is used to ortho and i am assuming adapted well to it..you would do great with ortho lo. i am on it and my periods are only 4 days and very light. They became 4 days during my first month of use. good luck.
I'm on Yaz strictly for severe PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), and for me, it's been a lifesaver. Keep in mind that what works well for me might not work for someone else. However, at the same time, I can say that Yaz is very helpful to most women who have PMDD.

My periods are much shorter and lighter, even moreso now than after having an endometrial ablation done back in 12/04.

I have no "cons" to share... LOL.
I've heard really bad side effects from Yaz, but I'm on Yasmin (the main difference is a day longer for your period.. big deal!) and I have NO side effects at all!! Which is amazing because I'm on adderall, as well, so I expected the two to make me unbearably moody haha. But I'm really happy with it.
