Can somebody give me any feedback on tubal sterilazation??

Question:
I am 24 yrs. old and I have a 4 yr. old and 2 yr. old twins and my husband and I do not want anymore children! I had a mirena IUD but did not like it(side effects). I want to get my tubes tied, but I have heard it can cause problems later in life, does anybody have their tubes tied and have problems from it? I know I don't want anymore kids but all of the doctors responses are, you are only 24. I am thinking about the paragard IUD as well, what would other people do in this situation, tubes tied ar paragard IUD?? Does anybody have a paragard? Thanks.

Answers:
Definitely don't do the IUD again, the IUD is known to cause many problems, mainly scarring of the uterus.

Look into the Essure procedure. It's less invasive than a tubal ligation. No cutting is involved. With a tubal ligation, an incision is made. With Essure, no incisions are required, and the recovery period is faster. It's all done via hysteroscopy through the cervix.

Small coils are placed into the fallopian tubes, which eventually cause scar tissue to build up, blocking the tubes, preventing pregnancy.

For the first 3 months of having this done, you must utilize a back-up form of birth control. Then, an HSG is done to insure that your tubes are definitely blocked. (This is the dye test in which dye is injected into the cervix via a catheter while an x-ray is taken to check the tubes.)

Good luck to you, I wish you well. There are no side effects from this, btw. :)
I had my tubes tied in May after my son was born. I haven't really had it long enough for side effects yet but I do know there is still a pretty good risk of pregnancy. Actually, I'm already a little worried because I had a normal period last month and I am on 35 days now and still no signs of it! The surgery is simple though, It was just an inch cut at the bottom of my belly button.
Some women make their men get fixed along with their tubal.
DO NOT DO DEPO! IT IT HORRIBLE!! It causes major bone loss!! (I'm 27 w/osteoporosis)
I would at least try the paraguard before committing to something irreversible. the pararguard may make your periods heavier and more painful but maybe not; it doesnt happen to everyone. The reason the docs dont want to tie your tubes is because we see women like you every single day. they are all convinced they want no more children, I know that life is hard in your 20's with 3 kids. women like you come back to the doctor all the time, it is when you are divorced, in your 30's, madly in love with a new man and want to have his child. there is nothing more heartbreaking than being young and healthy enough to have children but you cant because of an earlier decision. the life you have today may not be the same life you have in the future. you may be certain you dont want more kids now, but just be open to the idea that you may feel differently later.
I had a tubal ligation 17 years ago, no problems at all
