Is there a connection between chronic urinary tract infections and infertility in women?

Question:
I have reoccurring, chronic urinary tract infections. I've had doctors tell me that it is leading to scarring on my uterus and it is going to be hard to get pregnant.

Also, could the scarring on my uterus be something else that is leading me to have symptoms similar to urinary tract infections but it is really something else?

I've been tested for STD's, I'm fine. I've been to specialists and doctors for the past 8 years.

Answers:
Unfortunately, urinary tract infections can cause infertility. The infection can spread from the urinary tract to the reproductive system and just get worse from there. There are many other reasons for scarring of the uterus as well.

I would recommend letting the doctors know everything you can, possibly trying to find some medication that will help keep your from getting uti's so frequently. Also, your ob/gyn should be able to do a fertility test and see how bad the damage may be.

Hope this helps! :-)
There is a connection between recurring UTIs and infertility.
As for the cause of your UTIs is a mystery.
Perhaps you should go get a second opinion. Not all doctors are the same. Some have had different experiences and may have seen the same situation in other women.
