How does the birth control pill actually work?
Question:
Does it keep the egg from getting hit, so to speak?
Something with the lining? The period?
Answers:
There are 2 kinds of BC pills.
The combination pill has two hormones: estrogen and progesterone. Together, they inhibit ovulation; cause cervical mucous to thicken so sperm can't get through; and thin the lining of the uterus, so that in the extremely rare possibility that the woman does ovulate and the egg does get fertilized, it won't be able to implant. When taken exactly as prescribed, it's 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy.
The mini-pill only has one hormone, progesterone. Some women can't take estrogen, including those who are breastfeeding, so this pill works well for them. Its main function is to thicken cervical mucous so sperm can't enter. When taken exactly as prescribed, it is also 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy.
No birth control pill protects against any type of STD.

i think it makes the lining of the cervix more "mucousy" so that like sperm cant get through
It stops your period..well atleast mine helps me get fewer than 3 periods a year..so you have a less chance of getting pregnant
ok what happens is the pill wont let the body have a period when they are taking the "white" pill...it doesnt let the period begin...so the egg wont be released...on the final week of the pills...usually yellow...it will let the period begin so the woman can have the baby...does that answer your question?
Birth control pills, or any other oral contraceptives suppress ovulation with hormones. See during the time a female ovulates an egg is released from the ovaries so what the pill does is keep the egg from being released. Without ovulation there is no egg to be fertilized and a pregnancy doesn't happen.
Yes it tricks your body it´s pregnant due to the hormones dose, and yes it keeps the egg from implantation, you bleed less and you have a discharge like mocus white to keep sperm out.
Good luck! ;D
