According to Planned Parenthood's Web site, you should use a back-up birth control method for 48 hours when you start the mini-pill. Then you're good to go. Be sure and take it within a 3-hour window each day.
for at least one full pack it takes at least a month for the hormones to build up. but you should always use condoms with any pill becAUSE OF STDS
