First, do NOT use soap, do NOT douche. Most soaps are not regulated for vaginal use and can cause more problems. And douching depletes your vagina of the good bacteria it needs which can cause an infection, and if you already have an infection it can (and most likely WILL) make the infection worse.
Depending on how old you are, it could just be your body's natural odor. At a young pubescent age, the odor can SEEM to be strong because we haven't smelled it before and as our bodies get used to the hormonal changes, the odor gets less strong and we don't notice it as much. If you are concerned about others noticing it, you can get feminine wipes and pantyliners that are lightly scented to help mask the odor.
Is the scent coupled with a strange discharge that is not white or clear, and/or has the consistency of cottage cheese? If it is, you NEED to get in to see a Dr. right away, as that indicates a yeast infection and they really can only be cured by prescription. I know that it might be embarrassing to a young girl, but the Doctor's have seen everything, and the least of which would be a yeast infection.
And one more thing, the advice to not use cotton panties is inaccurate. Any other type of cloth for your panties (especially satin/silk) will be more likely to cause problems. Cotton panties let your vagina "breathe", and if it doesn't "breathe" you would be more likely to get infections.
y r u going to ask a question like that..? eeeewww...thats sick...wash with SOAP! if that does not help then u probably got something growing in there and u should go to the doc..
Try wearing pantyliners
douche
stay away from cotton panties, they can make you smell.
if you are female, get checked for an stds my your gynecologist, or possible yeast infection????? maybe try to douche.
you need to go to the dr. you could have an infection of some kind
You probably have some sort of bacterial infection that can only be cured by the proper meds prescribed by your doctor..you should just go and find out for sure!
Okay because i know you are going to get a lot of really ugly answers to this, I'm gonna try to help. You could try changing soap that you use, bathe twice a day once in the morning and at night, or douche that can help with smell. If none of that works, it might be an infection or other problem and you might have to go to your gynocologist. Good luck with that.
Have you tried doucheing? Just pick up a kit at the grocery or drug store to clean things out down there. They come with instructions. If odor persists or itching/irritation occurs, then definitely check it out with a doc.
Go see a Dr yesterday. He has seen it all before. And there are female Dr's.
hmm..
maybe you should douch..
its a womens..cleaning..thingy. lol idk
its the store..
you should try it. lol
Ewwww... they have products for that at the drugstore. DOUCHE...FEMININE SPRAY...but...hmmmm.maybe you have something physically wrong inside?
i would goto the doctor it might be serious because you might have a yeast infection or something serious and it get the smell to go away you could always wear a scented pad they make scented pantiliners too
I am not trying to be mean but every person has an odor of some sort. You are probably just now realizing the odor, you need to get used to it because it is just the odor of your body. You could clean yourself with a douche. I wouldn't go to a doctor about this. If you have a yeast infection like someone else said you might have one way to get rid of it is to eat lots and lots of yogurt.
try eating sweet things, other than that you may have a condition that requires medical examination also in your local pharmacies vagasil came out with a test to see if you have a vaginal infection
you might have a yeast infection. Another thing is that you might just be eating something strong that affects you like that. Get a monistat, go to the dr, or change your diet. (The dr deals with stuff like that all the time, don't be embarrassed, it is a normal kind of woman problem)
It is NEVER normal for a vagina to smell that badly. An offensive odor that is not remedied by normal cleansing almost ALWAYS indicates an infection. You really need to see a doctor and let them figure out what's wrong.

bacteria is the cause of offensive oder, infections are caused by 3 primary sources, fungal, viral, and bacterial need more info, em if you want!
douching should help- but douching too much can cause imbalance in natural bacteria causing more odors
As rude and cruel as everyone is being, MANY women have had a problem with this. Don't stay away from cotton panties though. This actually helps. Or at least make sure they have a cotton crotch. Soaking in a warm bath a couple times a day can help. There's a summers eve feminine bath if you put a capful in the tub it can help with the smell. You should however get checked for an infection by a doctor. It's probably nothing big. It could be as simple as a bacterial infection that they need to give you an antibiotic for. You can contact me if you'd like. Hope this helps some!
actually in Indonesia piper betle leaf used to take care that, just crush the leaf mix it with water and used in washing the area, well I don't know if you can find one there, so if you can't find it then go to docter cause i don't thing it's good thing to let it be
ive worked in a gyn/ob office and im a nurse. go to ur dr and let them see what it is. it could be that u need a prescription. DO NOT DOUCHE! all the gyn drs. i worked with said that it can kill the good bacteria u have in your vagina. GO TO THE DOCTOR.
It could very well be a bacterial infection or an Std. Do Not Douche! You can aggravate it further if you do.
My suggestion is to suck it up and go to a doc. There is nothing to be ashamed of. A Gyn has seen it all. Their job it to make sure you are healthy, and did not invest many years in med school just to laugh at you.
If it is an infection, a long bath or strong soap will not help. If you let this get out of hand, it could mess with your fertility. Please take my advice and go to a gynecologist or Planned Parenthood.
Good luck!
