Has anyone had abnormal vaginal bleeding that lasted more than a month?

Question:
I've been spotting and lightly bleeding every day in between my periods for the last two months. It will go away for a day, then come back, most of the time it is just pink, but sometimes I've actually bled on myself...then it goes away in an hour or two or goes back to very very light. What could be the cause and will it eventually stop?! I did have an infection but I took antibiotics and the doctor said I am now negative for infection. It's been over a week. Will my body eventually right itself? Is there any treatment to stop the bleeding?

Answers:
Yes, I've had this happen before, and it turned out I had a uterine fibroid tumor. Fibroids are harmless and very common.

I'm not sure how old you are, but you need to see a doctor as soon as you can. You could become anemic from the blood loss. Your doctor can help you determine the cause, but bleeding continuously for a month is NOT normal and you should NOT expect your body to right itself. Good luck.
could be an STD
are you on or have you recently changed birth control pills? if so then this may be something causing your problem. irregardless you need to be examined. it is also possible for you to be pregnant so i would take a test to be sure. good luck.
it might be an STD. get checked for one. otherwise, something similar happened to my friend (but she is a virgin, so it wasn't an STD) and her doctor put her on birth control pills so her period would be regulated.
i hope it quits soon! good luck

I don't know your age, but I tell you this as facts--- NOT to scare you: 1. If you are young (ie: below late 30's), your body is POSSIBLY adjusting to a different monthly menstrual cycle. Some women go through many before they no longer have to deal with a menstrual time. 2. Also, if you are peri-menopausal these symptoms are common. They can last as long as seven yrs. before a woman is "thrown into" COMPLETE menopause and no longer has to deal with anything along this line. 3. Cancer CAN BE present. I had a HARD period that lasted for about 31 days (no lie) back in 2005. I went to my OBGYN, and he found the beginning cells of uterian cancer. He checked me again in 6 months, and I was ok.! I'm happy! If there are no major complications that your doc finds upon exam (normally, they urge that waiting happen), the doc can prescribe a special medicine to stop it. Under these circumstances, you should tell the doc if you see no improvement in 10-14 days TOPS. It's important.
