Why do I get a yeast infection after my period every month?
Question:
Answers:
Some people are very prone to yeast infections. It could be something in your diet, use of tampons, or your underwear. You should always wear 100% cotton. A diet high in starches (bleached flours, sugars, etc) can make you more prone to them as well. Try taking acidophilus. It is a bacteria (the kind that is in yogurt) and keeps your body in check. You can find it at any store that sells vitamins and dietary supplements-they carry it at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, and your local grocery store.
maybe you dont clean yourself good enough
U should check this is a sign of immune defeciency
if you are a swimmer or an athlete then it could happen. Also if you use tampons too.
If you use tampons or douche, that could be your problem. Tampons irritate the vagina when you put them in and take them out, often causing the infection. Douching removes alot of the vaginas necessary bacteria and may also push an infection further inside.
if you use a tampon
-make sure you wash your hands when inserting it.
-make sure you do not leave the tampon in for more than 8 hours, it should be in you even less if your period is heavy.
if you use a pad
-change the pad 'before' it gets soaked
-do not leave the pad on for too long even if you are having a light day.
Other Information:
-shower every day you have your period, use a little mild soap like dove to clean down there, and wash off the soap very well.
-do not take a bath, that can make you get an infection easier.
-do not douche - it changes the ph balance in your vagina
-you can use "witch hazel' wipes to clean down there when you go to the bathroom.
-drink a lot of fluids to ward off any infection that may be growing inside you.
-take vitamins to keep your overall health in check
you may also want to go to a gynecologist to checked out, for infections, std, etc.
your vagina is the last place you want infections or problems.
Actually most people's immune systems are a little suppressed during menstruation. So you can get a little overgrowth ... not really an infection.
When your period is finished, try sleeping without underwear for several days. Wear only cotton (100%) underwear -- it's breathable. Candida hates oxygen and both these things will help keep it from reproducing.
