Are you suppose to bleed after a PAP SMEAR?

Question:
I did a pap smear and i "spotted" like after 15 minutes for three days. is this normal.?
thanks

Answers:
It's not abnormal :) When they do a pap smear, they are scraping cells from your cervix and it can cause a little bit of bleeding.
If it had been heavy bleeding, that would be a different story altogether!
Yes, it's pretty common. They should have told you that when you got it done. However, if you're pregnant or something, you should def call your doctor and just let them know.
Yes.
yes. it is normal. the dr. might have used a too big of an instrument for your size and that is why u bleed. normal dont worry about it. Mother of 2 boyz
This is very common. My gyno gives out panty liners after due to the slight spotting you have. I also have cramps for a few days.
It is totally normal, and almost expected. Your doctor really should have warned you. The brush and comb that are used to get the samples can be abrasive. If the bleeding gets bad, or doesn't stop after a few hours, if you have pain with it. call the doctor and speak with the nurse. She can help you out.
Possibly for you.

I never have.
