Birth Control Questions?

Question:
Im about to get on birth control and i dont know which method would be the best .. the pill.. the ring.. the shot? ive heard good and bad things about all of those.. which is the most expensive ? Which ones do yall use? and do you recommend it?

Answers:
If you are responsible enough to take the pill every day, i'd suggest the pill. Not only are there tons of different birth control pills to choose from, you are bound to find the "perfect one". The side affects differs for each person, thats what makes the pill perfect, many options and its very easy to stop taking it and go to your doctor for a different prescription. If you don't have drug insurance birth control pills cost around 40-50 dollars per month.

With the shot.. My one concern is that if your body does not respond well to the new hormones, it will be trapped inside your body for months. There is nothing you can do but to wait out the months for any "bad" symptoms to dissapear, it could be a horrible feeling. But on the good side, its a one in every 3 month shot, its soo convienent.

Personally i dont really like the ring mostly due to the horrible symptoms it was giving me such as headaches and mood swings. But it varies for every person.

You just need to experience them before you find your favorite :)
An aspirin. Held firmly between the knees.
Well the only one I am familiar with is the pill. That's just because the other options I was not fond of. I use Yaz and I am fine with it. It helps control my mood swings and I don't cramp nearly as bad as I use to. The only thing with the actual pill is it sometimes is hard to remember to take it. Due to this I sometimes miss one or take it later than I need to. So if you go with the pill I suggest setting a daily alarm or reminder so you won't forget.

As for price- not sure on that. I know before I married my pills ran about $70. That was for three months worth of pills. Now I don't pay anything because my hubby is military and thankfully my b.c. is covered by that. So not sure on that one.
Cost will depend on your insurance, and you should be able to get more information from them I know I pay $20 (US) for 3 months of the pill. I hate shots so that was out of the question, and have seen many people who had continuous bleeding and weight gain after the shot. I like the pill and take it every morning when I brush my teeth so I don't forget. A close friend of mine swears my the ring. She loves it and the cost is only a little more than I pay for the pill. I have never used it because I am not very tolerable to higher hormone levels (killer headaches), and my Dr said I would be better off with a low dose pill.
I assume that you are fairly young to be asking this Q and relatively in experienced-therefore there are several scenarios
how disastrous would a pregnancy be
Are you about to get married
are you in a stable monogamous relationship
do you trust your partner
OR do you want to be protected just in case

If you are in a casual relationship then always a risk of STD therefore always use condom
If in stable trusting faithful relationship-pill is most effective(can always use condom as well to be extra sure)
If pregnancy would be disastrous and NOT in stable relationship use pill+condom(prevent pregnancy and STD)
Injectable every 3 months effective but may cause irregular bleeding-once in no individual control
Dutch cap+spermicide- not so effective as pill but a good method for some well motivated-doctor needs to choose right size for you-does not interfere with your hormones
withdrawal -forget it-fails-risk of STD
Very brief summary-more specific details about yourself age/circumstances/past medical history-diabetes/epilepsy etc and I hopefully could have been more specific
"the more detailed the Q the better the answer"
