Period Trouble!?

Question:
I usually have a very heavy, painful period. I spoil pairs upon pairs of underwear because of the massive amount of blood. My mom makes me wear really big pads so that I don't go through such an amount of undies. I have had my period since April of last year.

And, on the heaviest days, my stomach just feels terrible and really wrong. I take Pamprin and excercise, so the pain lessens a bit.

I was wondering, would tampons help this? And does anyone know any further remedies?

Thanks<3

Answers:
when i was in middle school i'd have to wear really heavy duty pads (like the overnight ones) ...it sucked but it helped from ruining all my undies... it wasn't until highschool that i actually preferred the tampon versus the pads... as i grew older i grew out of my painful, heavy periods so perhaps you will too? i started mine when i was 11 and am now 22. they are now to the point where they only last about 4 days and are only really painful on the first day (cus i always forget and eat sugar the day before like crazy) ...if your mom will let you, go to your doctor and get on a birth control pill.. a lot of my friends were on them when we were like 14, 15 ish cus it helped the flow. if you talk to your mom about it i'm sure she will want the best and your doctor can help persuade her. it's better than taking a huge dose of midol, pamprin, or other OTC pills...

heating pads work great too, they even make those ones that stick to your pelvic area now so you can wear them around the house instead of being completely motionless. also try a hot bath with peppermint oil (smells good and is very calming) or if you are at work or school drink some hot tea with honey, close your eyes and try to relax.

a lot of hot baths should help you out at night... go grab a few magazines and just relax... i know it won't happen right away but it will help make you feel so much better. also stick to fresh fruits & veggies (not frozen or canned) as the syrups and sodium will make you bloat up and feel worse. and no soda or coffee... just water, fresh juices or fresh smoothies. in no time you will be feeling brand new!

Also, try to get an estimate of what week you think it will happen next month & go try yoga for the week before, stay really healthy w/no sugar the week before & you will be great!

good luck!
First of all, go see your doctor or OB-GYN to discuss the ongoing bleeding.
I prefer tampons over pads (less messy) but you may have to double up.

Def go talk to your doc about it and soon.

Good luck.
some ppl i know use a super tampon...and a pad...when i was little i would wear 2 pairs of undies and a pad.if it stained i would take my undies in the shower and use soap to take it off...(i was only 12) it worked i guess...i just use a pad and it doesn't matter to me...
i would talk to your doctor about having such heavy periods. Also I would recommendsuper heavy tampons and a thick pad. Be sure to change your tampon every 2 to 4 hours depending on how heavy you are.
Also try taking Midol teen or Midol PMS.
Also try laying on your side and putting a heating pad, hot water bottle, or warm wash cloth on your stomach

Also hydrogen perioxide works with taking the blood off your panties.
using birth control pills help...if u are old enough.

and ruled out other conditions by ur doc

if u are young it will normalize soon as u grow up
yes and try to avoid salty, and sugary foods. Eat extra fiber to help both cramps, and stomache aches. Youre not alone! I went through the same thing last year! Good luck!
i had exactly the same problem as u! except mine would come every 2 weeks so i was completely floored with it!..what the doctor done for me was put me on the pill to sort out how often they come..this also can help with you bleeding less!..i also got put on another pill for the pain/blood loss! it works a treat! you hardly know your on!..its called transexamic acid i think! ther is also mefenamic acid if you have asthma problems! its worth mentioning to the doctor to see what she suggests but its well worth the visit if it gets it sorted :) good luck! x
