I have an "unexplained mass" on my ovary, and my gynecologist consult is not for 3 weeks.?
Question:

Sometimes the ovary has cysts on it and these can break on their own with the menstrual cycle. It is not uncommon to have this with the hormones raising just before the period.
Also, an unexplained mass means that the technician didn't have the radiologist read the results then, that your dr. will get the results and share them with you . Waiting for any results can be nerve racking but worrying in the meantime can leave you feeling sick from just doing that. IF your dr. was alarmed they would have had the results read right away. It is another possibility there can be a tumor on the ovary but there are ones OFTEN non cancerous. My daughter had one that was not determined for a year and it grew to 15 lbs. by the time it was removed. This was completely cancer free. Don't worry but wait to see what the dr. has discovered this is from. In the meantime you could get possible options of this based on symptoms by going to mayoclinic dot com and typing in ovarian mass in the search section there. It will guide you to see symptoms, causes, treatments, etc. IF you don't get a result in entering that there try a google search for this then.
Yes!! 3 weeks is a long long time to wait. You need to go earlyer if possible, if something is wrong you want to know as soon as possible. So go sometime soon and dont wait 3 weeks!
It doesn't seem right that you didn't get results on the ultrasound for 2 weeks. I had an ovarian mass a few years ago and my doctor had the report the same day and called me. We set a schedule for surgery on the phone and I was in the hospital 3 days later having it removed. Fortunately it turned out to just be a cyst but, if it was something more serious I wouldn't want to be waiting over a month to start doing something about it.
