Sweetie, some cysts they do not remove--nabothian? You tell your doctor about your pains and other symptoms, and then they'll order an ultrasound...and then you'll find out what kind, if any, the cysts are, and they'll take it from there.
ive had cysts on my ovaries since i was 13, my stomach would swell up massivley and i would be doubled over in pain, mine are small enough that they 'pop' on their own...
i had two i was just sick with mine and removed them the next day the cysts good luck
Hi Jasmine h, a cyst is a little balloon filled with air or fluid on one of the ovaries, which then exerts pressure on the right or left side of the lower abdomen. These cysts can be painful. Besides the pain in the lower abdomen, some other symptoms are: erratic, painful periods, often with much uterine bleeding as a result of elevated estrogen levels, painful intercourse, heel pain, and excessive hair growth. An ovarian cyst can be as small as a pea, or as large as a grapefruit.
Most ovarian cysts are functional in nature, and harmless (benign). In the US ovarian cysts are found in nearly all premenopausal women, and in up to 14.8% of postmenopausal women. http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/ovarian...
You need surgery for an ovarian cyst? The answer depends on several things, such as your age, whether you are having periods, the size of the cyst, its appearance and your symptoms. If you're having periods and the cyst is functional, you probably won't need to have surgery. If the cyst doesn't go away after several menstrual periods, if it gets larger or if it doesn't look like a functional cyst on the sonogram, your doctor may want you to have an operation to remove it.

Normally they'll scan the area to see how big it is, if it keeps getting bigger, then they will remove it in due course. Cysts are meant to 'disperse' themselves, and the majority do, only in very rare cases is it operable.
Having said that, I suffered appedictius when I was younger, and durring surgery they discovered a cyst, which they decided to help disperse. (they took away the nasty bit of it, and let it deflate and disperse naturally)
it can be removed if it is causing trouble
Yes, cysts on ovaries are removed quite often. The decision to remove is usually a balance of how difficult the surgery will be (i.e. position and type of cyst), how well you would recover from the surgery (your general health and fitness) vs the imposition the cyst has on your life and its quality at the moment.
When I had a cyst removed (the size of a tennis ball!!) I had to have abdominal surgery which took 8 weeks off work to recover from (but then again you might like the holiday!) and I still can't lift very much (op was aboyut 4 months ago).
Tell the docs your thoughts - sometimes they will be able to biopsy and check cysts for cancerous cells without completely removing them, if that is what you are most worried about. Also, my gyno told me that sometimes hormone treatments work (but didn't for me) so they may try that to shrink it first.
Hope everything works out and it stops hurting, Good Luck.
Have an ultrasound performed. I thought I had kidney stones. Turned out to be multiple cysts on one ovary - it is now the size of a cantaloupe. Surgery in 3 weeks . . .
I have been twice hospitalized for the pain. The other times, medicated into a deep sleep, as even morphine IV's don't diminish the pains.
The ultrasound will also indicate if it appears to be cancerous. Doc will probably order the CA125 test (blood draw) to test for the breast/ovarian cancer marker.
Good luck - don't wait like I did!!
they aren't
i have them & i take the pill to try &shrink em
