Why would my period be lasting 12+ days?
Question:
This month it has now lasted 12 days, and doesn't look to be stopping. It isn't that heavy, really - but still 'red', and I am so, so tired. I've been going to bed at 7:30 most nights.
I am on the pill, and have been for 5 years or so.
I'm 23, so shouldn't be menopause. And unless I am 4 months pregnant without knowing, it can't be anything to do with pregnancy!
If it stops, is it ok? I keep expecting it to stop so haven't made a doctors appointment, but if it does stop, should I still see a doctor, or is this normal?
I haven't had a pap smear for 2 years - just got the reminder letter in the mail today - so I will be seeing a doctor soon, I guess.
I just don't know why my period has lasted so long, and it is hard to find any information on it, so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

i had it for 15 days once. i used up the whole packet. i think its normal?
sometimes if you miss a few days that will cause spotting. also if you are obese you can have your period for muchlonger and it will be more painful
Menopause would have the opposite result, less bleeding.
12 days is excessive, and unusual, you should see a doctor right away.
The top range of normal for periods is seven days. So you should definetely see a doctor. It might just be that you missed a few pills, or you might need the dose changed. It's probably nothing serious, but you need to go to the doctor right away.
