Girls only please!?

Question:
Ok.. Is it normal to leak through a tampon and a pad. I think my flow is heavy but I dont know what normal is. I'm 16 and have had my period since I was 13. Also my periods are pretty long. They used to be regular (5-7 days) but now they last for a month or 2. And then when it finally stops, it starts again in like a week!

I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but on 2 occasions (both while grocery shopping) I get really cold, but I'm sweating. So I asked for the keys to go sit in the car, and on my way out of the store I kind of started to go deaf. Like all the sound was muffled. I get blackouts alot, but on these occasions my vision went white, and I barely mad it to the car.

I know something is wrong, but does anyone know what it is. I'm really scared.

Thanks alot

I would say to go to your doctor. With the amount of blood you're losing, I am sure you are anemic. How quickly are you leaking through? They say if you leak through one in an hour for more than three hours straight you should get medical treatment ASAP. I am not sure about your religion, but it sounds like the pill could really help you out, regulate your periods. In the meantime I would be sure to eat foods high in iron (steak, clams, spinach, etc) to keep your stores up. Any more questions please email me, I have gone through this before.
Tell a friend, a teacher, or your mom. This can be serious. Something obviously isn't right. I'm sorry I can't tell you what it is. But you can go on to:
www.webmd.com and look it up.

Hope you turn out okay. :(
r u starting to take any new kinds of meds?
there is somethign seriously wrong i dont want to scare u but this is nit normal at all i wud really go see a doctor as soon as possible
o my gosh that would freak me out! maybe u should go to the doc! as for the period, that really sucks! im sorry u gotta go thru that! have u talked to ur gynegologist (i cant spell lol!) about it?
I don't know, but I would definitely go to the doctor. I am scared for you. Do your parents know? If not, tell them. But, yeah, go to the doctor as soon as possible!!
You should definitely make an appointment with an OB/GYN soon. If you are bleeding that much for that long you could be anemic. Your OB can put you on birth control that can help with that and make sure nothing is seriously wrong. Being Anemic can cause the blackouts and the shivering because its a deficiency in your blood.
periods do not last longer than a week, definitely not a month or more!!

I recently had a condition called cervicitis... it was basically an exposed blood vessel on my cervix that was bleeding. I had to get this silver nitrate stuff on it to try and sort of cauterize it. It took forever for it to stop. Sometimes it would stop for a day or two, but then start back up again. My doctor treated me several times with this stuff, and was about ready to use a laser to cauterize it when it finally stopped.

It sounds to me like you MIGHT have the same issue... but no way to know for sure.

You really need to talk to your OBGYN. And soon.
This definitely isn't normal. Blackouts and cold sweats are serious signs that you are losing too much blood. And your periods are lasting way too long.

Make an appointment with your doctor IMMEDIATELY. Describe all your symptoms to them; if they can't suggest any tests or solutions, then demand a referral to a gynecologist.
i personally think that you need to go to the doctor asap. and tell your mom asap b/c i think you could have toxic shock syndrome, if you look on the back of the box of tampons it will tell you about it. But it is serious and you definetly need to tell someone and go to the doctor. Good luck and get well!
i'll just sya this...
if your period lasts longer then 10 day you should have gone to the doctor!!!
none of your symptoms should be taken lightly. having your period for a month or two is not normal, and should be checked by a gyn. your other symptoms should be discussed with your regular doctor. sorry, no clue what it could be as the symptoms could be indicative of many things. good luck
I have really long period as well just the way you are describing them and I am 15 and I've had mine since I was 11. Long periods are normal at this age range by the time we age 18 we should have a regular cycle. But the symptoms you were describing on the way to the car, I never had before. I think you should tell your doctor. That could be serious.
Yea,its possible. You need to pay attention. When you feel 'it' leaking,or getting wet or mushy.Time to change.
Those are called 'white outs'.I got them when I was pregnant.Dizzy, and passed out alot.
I'd see a dr.
I know you're probably scared, but you NEED to tell someone. It will be alot less scary once you know what is wrong. Please tell someone.

I don't think it's TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), because thats usually more sudden. But get checked for it just in case.
Girl there's definitely something wrong with you, your periods are not supposed to last that long. Do you wear tampons everyday and do you change them regularly? You definetly need to see a Doctor and mention if your problems could be caused by continuos use of tampons. It could be toxic shock syndrome.
my ex g/f had this problem or at least sounds very similar to what you describe, she had to take birth control pills to keep a regular flow. Apeerantly it had something to do with her health. She stop taking care of herself and it affected her cycle. Have your self checked out. She became this way due to depression in result unmotivated to watch for her health and infection .
You probably have a cyst a tumor in your cervix, but yes you definitely have something really wrong down there, that bleeds and bledds to tell you, your body is sick, you should run to your obgyn, you need to be checked immediately, you have something really worng in your cervix and it is growing.
Take care and good luck! ;D
Wow, that is not good. Get yourself to a doctor hon.
You could be anaemic or you could have cervical cancer. The cancer isn't very likely and I don't want to panic you, it's just my cousin started bleeding heavily and she just ignored it, by the time she got it checked out it was too late to do anything.
