What advice do you have for supporting a victim of rape?

Question:
A family member was raped in her teens and her life has been out of control since. How can I best help her. She has recently had a second unplanned child.

Answers:
She needs to seek professional help to deal with her feelings, fears, and regain her self-control. Psychotherapy and group therapy will benefit her. She needs someone to talk to that can relate to her and be supportive to her. There are available Support Groups for Rape victims. Call the local hospital and ask if there is a local support group that she can attend. She may not speak at first but, hopefully, in time, she'll talk about her ordeal. Is there a family member that she can talk to and even attend the support group with her? I hope this helps. God Bless to her.
Tell her that she can take control of her life and that she deserves to have the life she wants, but she has to want to make a positive change and not be continued to be influenced by the bad that happened to her.
She needs to be in counseling or a support group.
