Do I have a yeast infection, Urinary Tract infection, or something else?

Question:
It is itchy down there on and off, and there is discharge that smells bad. However, I also go to the bathroom quite a bit, and I can only pee little amounts. It doesn't really sting or anything, but I guess it burns a little bit. Does anyone know what this specific condition is? I am a 15 year old female.

Answers:
It sounds like you may have a yeast infection. If you have scratched or wear tight underwear or clothing you could be irritated. This may be the reason for the burning. You may also have a bladder infection. By the way you do not have to be sexually active to have a STD. There are many other ways to get it. For example public restrooms, public pools, trying on clothing ( some people know they have problems and still try on clothing that may come in contact with their germs), sharing clothing with someone who may have a STD. Please just make an appointment with your doctor. Some of these things could cause all kinds of other serious problems with your health if not treated correctly. Hope you get better soon.
It sounds like it could be both a UTI and a yeast infection, however, if you are sexually active, I suggest making an appointment with your doctor. It might seem scary to talk about such private stuff with a doctor, but that's what they are there for. If it is a sexually transmitted infection, you want to make sure that you treat it right away...if you don't, certain infections can make you infertile. Make sure you take good care of yourself :)
you need to talk to an adult and make a doctors appt very very soon. it could be BV which has to be treated with antibiotics.

but make sure you get to the doctor!

The BV is just another infection kinda like the yeast infection but they do not have over the counter medicine it has to be treated with antiboitics. It is the most common infection. I had one awhile back. And when i was 17 i developed a yeast infection and it causes a very very intense itch. Just get to your doctor because BV will cause burning when you pee. good luck!
Hmmm..the burning, frequent urination, and only being able to urinate a little at a time sounds pretty much like a urinary tract infection (UTI). However, a UTI wouldn't have a foul smelling discharge or itching, that sounds like a yeast infection. Maybe you could have both a UTI and a yeast infection at the same time? I'd say the best thing to do would be to make an appointment with your doctor. If you have a UTI you will probably need antibiotics and if you have a yeast infection they can recommend the best over-the-counter treatment or possibly prescribe something. Oh, another thing, if you are sexually active you may also need to rule out an STD. I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor to be sure. Good luck! Hope you feel better!

Edit:
I'm glad to hear you're not sexually active! Good girl! I know of a lot of girls your age that cannot say the same!
It could be either one of those. Or it could be something entirely different. Or it could be nothing at all. You have to go to the doctor to find out. A gynecologist will have to take a sample of your cervical mucus to see if it's a yeast infection. You can pee in a cup to find out if it's a UTI. If it is a UTI it's important to get it diagnosed and treated quickly. If you don't it could spread to your kidneys which would make you really sick and possibly do long term damage.

For now, drink LOTS of water and cut back on the soda and other caffeinated beverages. Caffeine will aggravate both conditions.
If you are sexually active it sounds as if you may have some type of an Sexually Transmitted Infection. Anytime that you have a discharge and odor you need to see a doctor. And the sooner the better. If not you may have a yeast infection which generally can be treated with over the counter meds. But you really should see a health professional. Find an adult you can trust to take you.
The itching and discharge causes me to think: yeast infection (vaginitis). The low urine levels - possible bladder infection. Usually with urinary tract infections - there is a little bit of blood in the urine.

I would suggest you have your mom make you a doctor's appointment. You are young, and will need to have a doctor tell you what this is... in the future, if you get a yeast infection, you will be able to 'know' the symptoms and self treat it. The creams and suppositories for yeast infections are over the counter... in feminine sections in stores, or near the pharmacies. There are several brands: Gynelotrimin and Monistat are two of the kinds of brand that are available. They cost about $15 to $20.

Because of the varying symptoms... you may possibly need an antibiotic for a bladder infection. You should see a doctor just to be sure. Sometimes people get yeast infections from taking antibiotics. This is because the medication destroys what is called "friendly bacteria" that is present in your vagina. The creams that you use to treat it... replace those bacterias, which are necessary to keep a healthy vaginal flora. Take a look at the website I list below, this will give you a medical look at vaginitis.
that had happened to me as well. i thought it was a yeast infection because i had never had either before that. i would suggest going to the doctor, that's what i ended up doing. they took some samples to see if there was bacteria causing the UTI and put me on antibiotics for it as well. it went away REALLY quickly with the antibiotics. the doctor told me that UTIs don't cause itching, and yeast infection creams would be good to use just incase there is any kind of yeast. but i guess yeast is visible? that part i'm not sure, she told me there was none but i have never had a yeast infection so i have not a clue what that's like.
