do you believe recovery is ever possible for someone who is an addit for 15 yrs.?

Question:

Answers:
Yes, I do believe recovery is possible...if the addict really wants to stop. That is the key word...IF. If the addict is quitting for all the wrong reasons and not because they really want to quit, they will not succeed. However, if they are quitting because they REALLY do want to quit, they will succeed. I've seen those who have done it.

Do you think you can change?

If you can, why can't some one else?

Sure - it takes work to recover from a serious additcion - but it takes a lot of work to maintain that addiction too.

I believe that people can change. Will they do the hard, painful work required to bring about that change? not very often.
Only if they choose to recover for themselves..however whatever it is that they are/were addicted to, they will always be addicted to...they will require alot of professional and family help and support , but it can be done. I know of a man who IS an alcoholic and he quit cold...he drank for years,,he hit rock bottom and now, if he ever had a drop of booze he would return back to his alcoholic state. This goes the same for any other drug..It's a rough but manageable road
